Whisky’s for drinking and water’s for fighting!” These words have been repeated throughout the history of the arid Rocky Mountain West. Colorado serves as the headwater state to four major rivers: Platte River, Arkansas River, Rio Grande River and the Colorado River. There are few things more important and more contentious than our water supply. Energy development is arguably one of them. Various hydropower projects are found along the routes these rivers take from the mountains to the borders of our state. The nexus between development and supply of both energy and water is significant. Join us to learn about the projects and policies that influence Colorado’s water and energy supply.
