Leaders: Take the Lead in Leadership

The Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Denver Metro Small Business Development Center (SBDC) are proud to present the August 2010 Business Excellence Forum. In the quest for excellence, organizations face unprecedented levels of complexity and heightened expectations from customers, employees, and society. In the quest for excellence, organizations face unprecedented levels of complexity and heightened expectations from customers, employees, and society. Organizations need to think fast and execute flawlessly to stay competitive. The majority of strategic initiatives fall short of their original business goals and many fail to be implemented on time and within budget. The reasons for failure are well known yet difficult to avoid.  Only a small portion of failure is actually attributed to technical or process issues, while most failures are due to leadership, work culture and communication issues. This half-day event will provide you with the tools and practice you and your business need to fulfill internal and external expectations.

Breakout Session 1: Heinz Buschang, Ph.D.

12:45 – 2:15 p.m.

Effective leadership is not intuitive! Just as the laws of statistics have helped achieve improvements in product and process excellence, leaders must understand the laws of human behavior to achieve sustainable organization performance. Regardless of the industry or the complexity of an organization’s strategy, all business results are the product of the behavior of its workforce. During this session you will receive an introduction to the science of Human Behavior and a general overview of key concepts to help inspire, focus, and motivate peers to achieve your desired business results.

Breakout Session 2: Peter Bemski, Ph.D.

2:30 – 4 p.m.

Dr. Bemski has presented extensively on leadership, organizational behavior and ethics. He has a variety of intercultural skills, which include extensive for-profit and non-profit administrative experience.  Immediately before coming to Regis University, Dr. Bemski was a consultant working on such projects as the E900 Center in Qingdao, China and an Action English Center in Kissimmee, Florida.  During your session with Dr. Bemski you will gain the knowledge and application tools you need to become and effective leader for your organization.
